• King Abdullah Port is an icon of the ports of the region and a great step in realizing the aspirations of Vision 2030

    The President of Asharqia Chamber, Abdul Hakim bin Hamad Al-Ammar Al-Khalidi, praised the opening of King Abdullah Economic Harbor in Rabigh, west of the Kingdom, on Monday, February 11 by the Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.

     King Abdullah Economic Harbor in Rabigh has an area of about 17 million square meters, which is considered as a realistic embodiment to empower the private sector and increase its contribution to the national economy, as it is developed and managed by the private sector.

     

    Al-Khalidi considered the port as a quantum leap in terms of the tracks of the advancement of the logistics sector in the Kingdom.

    He congratulated the wise leadership for the development of the port, which is the icon of the ports of the region and represents a major step in achieving the aspirations of the Vision of the Kingdom 2030.

    He pointed out that the development of the port comes in response to an ambitious vision that recognized the importance of the need to develop it as a logistical platform for the Kingdom and the world.

    He stressed that it reflects the interest of the leadership in major projects that contribute to the achiavement of the Vision and its objectives in diversifying the economic base and to push the Kingdom to be the best logistics hub in the world.

    Al-Khalidi said that the port represents a model for large national projects that raise the competitiveness of the Kingdom and make them in the ranks of the most effective countries in the movement of world trade, which provides solutions and facilities for investors based on a strategic location on the Red Sea and near the industrial valley in King Abdullah Economic City and re-export area.

    He pointed out its superiority over all ports in the region with its ability to receive large shipping vessels, especially equipped with a dock up to a depth of about 18 meters, which is enabling it to absorb the increasing number of imported goods.

     

     

    For his part, a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Logistics Committee of Asharqia Chamber, Bandar bin Rafi al-Jabri, said that the development of the port is, on the one hand, an attractive step for qualitative investments in the logistics sector and opens up great opportunities to provide investment opportunities for the business sector in various fields as well as employment opportunities for the national labor forces, and on the other hand, a step that supports the increase of the Kingdom's exports to the outside world.

    He thanked the wise leadership and all the supporting bodies for upgrading the logistics sector in the Kingdom.

    He pointed out that the port since its opening to receive ships in 2013 is witnessing steady growth as a meeting point of vitality and exchange of regional and international trade routes, and today will witness the development of greater growth due to the increased capacity to receive all ships, whatever size.

    He stressed that logistics is the mainstay of trade and its axis with global demand for logistics increasing, especially in the region, as the opportunity was opened for the Kingdom with its ambitious qualifications and Visions to be the most attractive platform.​
